The online Liquid Quenchant Database (LQD) maintains hundreds of Cooling Curves. All the information of the Cooling Curves are presented in textual format (in “Search Results” and “Workbench” sections) as well as graphical format (in “Cooling Curve Chart” and “Parameters Chart“).If you want to select some of them and visualize and compare them than the followings steps are advised to be taken:
In order to select the quenchants to be analysed you have to define the exact values or ranges of parameters by which you intend to filter the Cooling Curves. (Check the LQD Data structure page to know more about the parameters)
- If you would see the Cooling Curves obtained between 01/01/2010 - 30/01/2010 than you have to add these dates to the edit boxes of the "Date" field
- if you would observe the Cooling Curves which Cooling Rates Maximum value is between 80 and 90 C/s than you have to add these dates to the edit boxes of the "CRMax" field
The second method for filtering the Database is to use SQL queries. After clicking on the “Switch to SQL” button you could give your SQL command directly in the “SQL Query” Edit box. (This feature is advised only for advanced users)
After finishing the definition of filtering parameters, you should click on the “Perform Search” button. (If you do not want to filter the database then you could click on the “Perform Search” button without filling out any Edit boxes)
The Cooling Curves selected by the filtering queries will appear below the title “Search Results“. These Cooling Curves belongs to the “Search Results” set.
The “Search Results” set of Cooling Curves shows all the parameters of each curves. The attachments related to a curve (if exists) can be downloaded by clicking on the “Clip” sign. Any Cooling Curve can be removed from the “Search Results” set by clicking on the “Recycle Bin” sign.
In order to present a Cooling Curve in the chart on the left you have to click on the “+” sign (at the left-most symbol in each row). The selected Cooling Curves (and the related Cooling Rate Curves) will appear in the chart on the left and the selected curve will appear below “Workbench” title. These Cooling Curves belongs to the “Workbench” set.
The visibility of each curve of the “Workbench” set can be switch on and off by clicking on the “Eye” sign (second left sign in each row). Any Cooling Curve can be removed from the “Search Results” set by clicking on the “Workbench” sign.
The parameters of the Cooling Curves can be presented and analysed in the “Parameters Chart“. The desired parameter to be shown as bars can be chosen from the ComboBox (at top left corner of the “Parameters Cart“).
The zooming of the “Cooling Curve Chart” can be performed by double clicking on the area intended to be magnified. By clicking on the button “Reset Chart” (at top left corner of the “Cooling Curve Chart“) the original scale of each axis can be set. The scale of the horizontal axis of the chart on the left can be switched between Linear and Log10 by clicking on the relevant radio button at the top right corner of the chart.
