IFHTSE Fellowship for Professor Yoshinao Mishima

Yoshinao Mishima (Born 1949, in Tokyo, Japan) graduated and obtained his Ph.D. degree (in 1979) at University of California, Berkeley in USA and Doctor of Engineering degree (in 1983) at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan. He has written numerous papers on improving the mechanical properties of heat-resistant metal materials by microstructure control. He got several awards from the American Society for Metals, The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials, The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan, and Japan Society for Heat Treatment. He was the president of Tokyo Institute of Technology and he is now an emeritus professor. He is currently the president of the Japan Society for Heat Treatment, and in 2006 and 2007 he was also the president of IFHTSE. He planned and served as organizing committee chairman for the Asian HTSE Conference (Matsue, Japan) in 2001 and the 17th IFHTSE Congress (Kobe, Japan) in 2008. He has contributed to the development of heat treatment technology in Japan and the advancement of IFHTSE.
